Dear students:
Excitement is in the air as we prepare for the 117th meeting between Michigan and Michigan State football. The battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy returns this Saturday, Oct. 26 in Ann Arbor. Read on for important information on how to have the best fan experience, no matter who you are cheering for.
Reminders for everyone attending the game
● Familiarize yourself with Michigan Stadium policies, including the most up-to-date information on what you can bring into the stadium with you, and other important safety tips.
● Safety is everyone's responsibility. If you or someone you see needs help, alert security, event staff, or the police.
● Let’s leave the rivalry on the field. Be a respectful fan and cheer for your team, not against the other.
Reminders about alcohol use
● For those who choose to drink, review strategies, such as staying hydrated, sticking with friends, and being mindful of your surroundings.
● Plan ahead for your transportation needs, such as designating a sober driver or ridesharing.
● If someone needs help, do not hesitate to call 911. Michigan’s Medical Amnesty laws are in place to remove any perceived barriers to get help when someone is in danger.
● If you are not inside a designated tailgate area, it is illegal to be on public property with open containers of alcohol. Public property includes sidewalks, streets, and public buildings.
The positive side of competition Battle For the Houses 2024
Our two schools are going head to head in fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, thanks to a friendly competition between former NFL players T.J. Duckett (MSU) and Mike Martin (U-M).
Alex's Great State Race
Since 2014, ROTC cadets from MSU and U-M have joined together to run 64 miles from East Lansing to Ann Arbor and present the home team with the game ball for the rivalry football game. Learn more about how this celebration continues to grow and how you can participate.
Whatever the final score, we wish you a safe, healthy, and exciting weekend ahead.
