About Us

University Health and Wellbeing Travel Clinic promotes safe and health travel by providing counseling to travelers - whether MSU students, employees, or the greater Lansing community - about appropriate vaccines and preventative medication.

We utilize national and international travel expertise to provide current travel information and recommendations.

The clinic is a designated Yellow Fever vaccine site.

Travelers are seen by appointment only. Please call 517-353-3161 to make an appointment.

Before coming to your appointment, you must complete the Travel Vaccine Planner, which will help the health care provider determine the information and/or vaccines you will need.

The Travel Clinic is located in Olin Health Center on the campus of Michigan State University, 463 E. Circle Drive, East Lansing, MI 48824. Use the Interactive Campus Map to locate Olin Health Center and nearby parking options.

Family consultations offer families with children under 12 years of age a comprehensive and cost-effective way to receive travel counseling, vaccinations, and preventative medications.

The cost of a family consultation is $150 for up to four family members. Additional family members will be billed $35 per person. The family consultation consists of two parts:

Part One: Phone Consultation

The first part is a phone consultation between one parent/guardian and one of the travel health care providers. Try to schedule the phone consultation for a time when you are less likely to have frequent interruptions.

The phone consultation will last approximately 45 minutes. The health care provider will ask about your travel itinerary, your family's health history, and review vaccination and medication recommendations.

At the end of the consultation, the office visit for immunizations and medications will be scheduled. The length of this visit will be determined by the travel health care provider.

Part Two: Office Visit

The second part is an office visit for vaccinations and medications. All family members traveling should be present. There is no additional consultation fee for the office visit. However, fees for vaccinations and medications will be charged.

During this visit, please bring your family's completed Travel Vaccine Planner. If you do not bring a completed planner, you will be charged an additional $15. Without a completed vaccine planner, there is more time involved for the travel health care provider during your appointment.

The Travel Clinic does not bill insurance. Payment for your appointment is due the day of service by debit or credit card. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance if they cover travel related healthcare visits.

Appointment times are based on a number of factors, such as the country or countries you are traveling to, your medical history, and recommended vaccines. It is not possible for us to provide you with the exact cost of your consultation until your appointment is complete. The average cost is between $75 and $95.

All students, faculty, and staff traveling on MSU sponsored international travel (non-education abroad) must register their travel in the MSU Global Travel Registry before their departure. Registration is an essential tool in supporting the health and safety of MSU travelers abroad, activating MSU-provided international health insurance; evacuation and repatriation insurance; facilitates the University's emergency support services; and provides you with important pre-departure information.
