Alexis Travis, PhD

Assistant Provost/Executive Director of Health and Wellbeing

As the Assistant Provost/Executive Director of Health and Wellbeing, Alexis oversees the university’s new University Health and Wellbeing division, which brings together 11 departments focused on supporting faculty, staff and student health and wellbeing.Alexis earned her doctorate in public health from Walden University and her master’s in pharmacy with honors from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. 

 

Before joining Michigan State, Alexis served as senior deputy director for the public health administration with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, overseeing the Bureau of Laboratories, Bureau of Epidemiology and Public Health, Bureau of Health and Wellness, Bureau of Infectious Disease Prevention, and the Office of Performance Improvement and Management.In 2021, she was recognized by the de Beaumont Foundation as a National 40 Under 40 in Public Health honoree. 

Dr. Travis was interviewed by MSU Today on WKAR 90.5 and when asked about her passion for this work she said “Here at MSU, I'm really excited about this diverse, huge community that we get to serve. There are many opportunities for us to look to make sure that health and wellbeing are integrated into all aspects of campus life and think about the different backgrounds people come here with and how we can listen and develop more programming and initiatives to meet those needs. Tim Spedoske, MD

Medical Director of Campus Health Services

Pronouns:He/Him

 

Tim has been with Campus Health Services since 2016 and recently earned the position of Medical Director in 2023. He received a Bachelor of Science from Alma College. He then went on to receive his MD at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Tim completed his residency at Sparrow Hospital and was certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

In his time with MSU Campus Health Services, Tim has focused on Primary Care and Mental Health to support our Spartan community. As Medical Director, Tim is in charge of running our health-care facility, implementing regulations, and keeping the division updated on medical trends. He is committed to providing high quality patient care and ease of access to medical resources for the Spartan community.

Tim grew up in Lansing, Michigan and now lives in Mason. He enjoys table tennis and musical theater (enjoying, not performing).

Tana Fedewa, LMSW

Director of MSU Center for Survivors - Interim Director of UHW Mental Health and Trauma Services

Pronouns: She/Her

 

Tana received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Women and Gender Studies from Grand Valley State University. She then went on to receive her social work at Michigan State University.

Tana is passionate about trauma informed services, trauma informed workplace, intersectionality, vicarious trauma, gender-based violence, health equity, animal assisted interventions, title IX, victim of crime act, and violence against women act.

Tana enjoys traveling with her family, camping, reading and snuggling with her dogs Zoey and Henry.

Michael Hudson, MA

Director of The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD)

Pronouns: He/Him


Michael began his MSU career in January 1992 serving as specialist in visual, mobility, and chronic health disabilities. He became the Director of The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) in June of 1999
He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Lake Superior State University in 1988. He then went on to receive his Master's in University Administration from Western Michigan University.

  

Professionally Michael is interested in empowering people to develop their abilities and grow through disability challenges with a special focus on the power of technology and role models to enhance capacity and self-concept. He values the power of an MSU world-class education to transform lives and help people reach their fullest potential. Collaboration with campus and community partners solidifies his belief that, given the proper team, nearly any challenge can be overcome once identified and understood. In 2010 he was named MSU Outstanding Supervisor of the Year via staff nomination.

 

Michael grew up in Saginaw County, Michigan (St. Charles, Hemlock, Shields). He serves on the Board of Directors of MSU Federal Credit Union, a 7+B organization that empowers people to grow their financial capacity and reach their life dreams. He also serves through Kiwanis of East Lansing with a goal of helping grow tomorrow’s leaders by favorably impacting youth in our community.

Jaimie Hutchison, MA, LPC

Director of The WorkLife Office

Pronouns: She/Her


 

Jaimie has been with the Worklife Office since 2018, she became the Director of the office in April 2022. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University. She then went on to receive her Masters in Community Counseling from the University of North Colorado. She also received her Post Master’s Certificate in School Counseling from Eastern Michigan University.

Jaimie has professional interests in workplace wellbeing, values-based leadership, self-care, community care, DEI, psychological safety, personal health and wellbeing, national work-life leadership.

Jaimie is from Lansing, Michigan and is the President-Elect for College and University Work-Life-Family Association (CUWFA). She has volunteered over 10,000 hours in her communities. She loves to travel, kayak, and spend time in nature with her friends and family. Jaimie is engaged in community work around DEI, leadership, and Girl Scouts. She also is a community advocate for routine health appointments, preventative care, and cancer patient support and advocacy.

Elizabeth King, MPA

Quality and Compliance Coordinator for MSU Occupational Health

Elizabeth has been in this position since 2010. She received a Bachelor of Arts from James Madison College at Michigan State University. She then went on to receive her Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Management from Grand Valley State University.

Elizabeth is passionate about creating and implementing policies that not only seek to solve identified problems but also address systems/environmental changes that contribute to improved health outcomes for MSU faculty, staff, students, visitors, and the broader community.

Elizabeth grew up in Fowler, Michigan, and currently lives in Okemos, Michigan. She loves spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, reading, enjoying all types of food, and watching all kinds of sporting events.

Jonathon Novello, LMSW, ACSW

Interim Director of Health4U and the Employee Assistance Program

Pronouns: He/Him


 

Jonathon has been with MSU since 2004. He received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University. He then went on to receive a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Michigan.

Jonathon is passionate about mental health treatment, anxiety treatment, couples counseling, adolescent mental health, the power of short-term counseling services, the psychology of leadership, and data-driven health promotion programming.

Jonathon grew up in Haslett, Michigan and lives in East Lansing. He enjoys listening, playing and obsessing over music, movies, reading, doing creative things with his hands, being outdoors, and hanging with his family.  Jonathon also watches soccer, and supports Arsenal (sorry, Dr. Travis).   Fun fact: Jonathan was an extra in Batman v Superman, but you can only see a fuzzy silhouette of him in the background behind Ben Affleck's large head.

Holly Rosen, LMSW

Director of Michigan State University Safe Place

Pronouns: She/Her


 

Holly began working at MSU in 1994 and moved to full-time in 1995. She received a bachelor’s in social work from Michigan State University in 1981. She then went on to receive her master’s in social work in 1987.

Holly is the recipient of the Danger Assessment Certification: 2021; Sunshine Peace Award: 1998; Ingham County Bar Association, Liberty Bell Award: 2012; MSU Outstanding Supervisor:  2014; MCEDSV, Outstanding Advocacy & Community Work in Ending Violence Against Women, 2014; MSU Inspirational Woman of the Year Award: 2016.

Holly is passionate about helping domestic violence or sexual assault survivors by providing expert witness testimony or court reports in family, defense, or prosecution cases. She also enjoys collaborating and networking with colleagues.

Holly grew up in Detroit and loves time spent with family, friends, and her dogs; She enjoys hiking, boating, traveling, reading, and streaming TV and movies. She loves eating out and spending time with colleagues outside of meetings and work. Holly is currently on the board of the Battering Intervention Services Coalition of Michigan.
