Campus Health Services (CHS) delivers comprehensive on-campus medical care to support the health and wellbeing of the MSU community. Services specific to students include primary care, gynecology, and an allergy and immunization clinic. Nutrition services are available to all campus members, while occupational health provides medical assessment, monitoring, intervention, and evaluation specifically for faculty and staff. A travel clinic promotes safe and healthy travel for students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.
Online scheduling for primary care, gynecology, and transgender care appointments expands access, while reducing phone call volume and improving efficiency for CHS staff. Nearly 70% of all appointments are made online, empowering students with greater agency and autonomy, reducing stress and anxiety, and increasing access to care.
As flu season approached, CHS encouraged students, faculty, and staff to prioritize their health and help keep campus healthy by receiving a free annual flu vaccine. The first-ever student-focused flu clinic successfully vaccinated more than 400 students, while additional clinics served more than 800 faculty and staff. President Guskiewicz also received his annual flu vaccine from an Occupational Health team provider.

Thanks to a generous donation, enrolled students who are uninsured or underinsured now have access to free vaccines, including the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which helps protect against certain cancers, as well as free cervical cancer screenings through Pap tests.
As seasonal illnesses circulated, such as norovirus, CHS prioritized proactive communication to promote campus safety and wellness. While no norovirus outbreaks were reported on campus, UHW issued reminders to students, faculty, and staff about preventive measures to reduce its spread. In response to regional measles activity, CHS also reinforced awareness around symptoms, vaccination, and exposure protocols. The communications played a key role in promoting informed, health-conscious behaviors across campus.

Through intentional outreach efforts, we’ve maintained strong individual counseling numbers while building new connections with campus departments that previously had limited engagement, including College of Music, Transfer Student Success Center, MSU Police and Public Safety, Recreational Sports and Fitness Services, and Nutrition courses. By sharing inclusive nutrition messages through a variety of channels, including social media, newsletters, and residence halls, more Spartans are becoming aware of available resources and feel encouraged to seek support.

CHS expanded its in-house laboratory capabilities with the addition of a new instrument to conduct tuberculosis (TB) blood tests. Additionally, the Olin lab is now performing many other commonly ordered tests such as glycohemoglobin, vitamin B12, and ferritin. These enhancements improve diagnostic efficiency and support timely, accessible care for the campus.
I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional care I received at Olin Health Center. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel genuinely seen and cared for. Both the calming environment and the professionalism of the staff, from the medical assistant to the provider, reassured me that they truly care about MSU students, and I deeply appreciate all they do for us.”
