Navigating Health Insurance

For students seeking care, understanding their insurance coverage — or getting coverage if they don’t have it already — can be confusing and overwhelming.  

Remember, counseling services are free for enrolled students and insurance is not required.

For psychiatry services, three visits are prepaid* during your enrollment at MSU. Fourth and subsequent psychiatry visits are billed to insurance or the patient.

If you are concerned about your insurance status or learn that your health insurance is not accepted, we will work with you to understand your situation. Together, we’ll explore coverage options available to you while evaluating the cost and ways to pay for the coverage. There is no charge for this service.
