AccessMSU: A Smarter, More Accessible Way to Support Spartans

University Health and Wellbeing is taking a major step forward in how it supports students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, whether visible or invisible.

The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) will launch AccessMSU on June 1, 2026. This new, integrated data system is designed to make requesting, managing, and implementing accommodations simpler, faster, and more transparent for everyone involved.

Why it matters
Over time, the systems supporting this work have become outdated and are no longer fully supported, which has introduced functional limitations. As a result, there have been challenges such as slower processes and increased administrative burden.

AccessMSU changes that
Built on the Accessible Information Management (AIM) platform, the new system modernizes how accommodations are delivered at MSU, bringing a more seamless, accessible experience to the entire campus community.

What’s improved
AccessMSU is designed with users in mind:

  • Students
    • Easier, more intuitive process to request and renew accommodations
    • Clear visibility into eligibility and accommodation status
    • Faster, more consistent communication
  • Faculty
    • Direct access to approved accommodations. To receive accommodation letters, faculty and instructors must be listed as the instructor of record for the course in MSU’s Student Information System (SIS).

    • Streamlined communication workflows
    • Less administrative burden
  • Staff and administrators
    • Secure, role-based access to information
    • More consistent processes and stronger controls
    • Better tools to support students and employees effectively

Stronger systems behind the scenes
AccessMSU also brings meaningful upgrades to infrastructure and data:

  • Integration with MSU systems for greater accuracy
  • Single Sign-On and multi-factor authentication for enhanced security
  • Expanded reporting capabilities to track trends and needs over time

These improvements give RCPD and campus partners the ability to better understand how accommodations are being used and where additional support may be needed.

Looking ahead
AccessMSU is more than a technology upgrade. It’s an investment in a more inclusive, accessible MSU.

With stronger systems, clearer processes, and better data, the university is better positioned to:

  • Support student success
  • Inform decision-making with real insights
  • Strengthen equity and access across campus

At its core, AccessMSU helps ensure that every Spartan has the support they need to learn, work, and thrive.
