Community & Campus Resources

Finding support can feel overwhelming, especially during difficult times. This resource directory includes campus, community, and statewide services that may help with safety, healing, basic needs, legal concerns, medical care, mental health support, and other challenges. Whether you are seeking assistance for yourself or supporting someone else, these resources can help connect you to information, services, and support.

If you need help identifying the right resource or would like to discuss your options, the Center for Survivors is available to provide confidential support, advocacy, and referrals.

  • Center for Survivors - Free and confidential counseling, advocacy, support groups, crisis services, emergency shelter and resources for faculty, staff, students and community members who have experienced relationship violence, sexual misconduct and/or stalking.
  • Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) - Short-term confidential counseling for students.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Short-term confidential counseling and support for employees and their families.
  • Gender and Sexuality Campus Center - Resources, education, and support for LGBTQIA2S+ community members.
  • MSU Police and Public Safety - Emergency response, safety resources, and reporting options.
  • Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Education and Compliance - Support and information regarding discrimination, harassment, and Title IX concerns.
  • Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) - Immigration, cultural adjustment, and student support services.

  • Michigan Legal Help - Free legal information, self-help tools, and court forms for people navigating legal issues without an attorney.
  • MI Statewide Sexual Assault Hotline: 24/7 confidential support, crisis intervention, information, and referrals for survivors of sexual violence (call, text, chat, and TTY available).;
  • MI Statewide Domestic Violence Hotline: 24/7 confidential support, safety planning, resources, and referrals for individuals affected by relationship violence (call, text, chat, and TTY available).
  • Michigan HIV/STI Hotline: Information, education, testing resources, and referrals related to HIV and sexually transmitted infections.
  • Battering Intervention Services Coalition of Michigan – Resources related to intervention and accountability programs.
  • Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence – Statewide directory of domestic and sexual violence programs.
  • Michigan Crime Victim Compensation – Financial assistance for eligible crime-related expenses.
  • MI-VINE – Victim notification system with offender custody and court information.
National Resources

National resources are available 24/7 to provide confidential support, crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and referrals. Whether you are seeking help for yourself or supporting someone else, these organizations offer specialized services for survivors, victims of crime, LGBTQ+ individuals, Native communities, and those experiencing mental health or safety concerns.

  • National Center for Victims of Crime - Information, advocacy, and support for crime victims, including resources on victim rights and recovery.
  • National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women - Legal resources and advocacy for survivors facing criminal or child welfare system involvement.
  • National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NVADV) - Education, advocacy, and resources related to relationship violence.
  • National Domestic Violence Hotline – 24/7 confidential support, safety planning, crisis intervention, and referrals. Call: 800-799-SAFE (7233).
  • RAINN (National Sexual Assault Hotline): 24/7 confidential support, information, and referrals for survivors of sexual violence. Call: 800-656-HOPE (4673).
  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Immediate support for mental health crises, emotional distress, or suicide concerns. Call or text 988.
  • Love is Respect – Support, education, and resources for teens and young adults experiencing unhealthy or abusive relationships.
  • Resource Center on Domestic Violence: Child Protection & Custody - Information and resources on family court, custody, and child protection issues.
  • Stalking Prevention, Awareness & Resource Center (SPARC) - Education, safety resources, and support related to stalking.
  • StrongHearts Native Helpline: 24/7 culturally appropriate support for Native American and Alaska Native survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Trevor Project - Crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ+ youth through phone, text, and chat.
  • Trans Lifeline - Peer support and crisis resources led by and for transgender people.
