Healing does not have to happen alone. The Center for Survivors offers a variety of free groups and workshops designed to help survivors connect with others, build coping skills, explore creative outlets, and strengthen their sense of well-being. Whether you are looking for community, reflection, creative expression, mindfulness, or opportunities to learn new skills, our groups provide supportive spaces grounded in trauma-informed and survivor-centered practices. Current offerings may include support groups, wellness activities, creative arts experiences, mindfulness practices, and skill-building workshops.
No specific background, prior experience, or special skills are required just a willingness to explore what healing looks like for you
Group and workshop offerings change throughout the year based on community interests and needs. We encourage survivors, students, faculty, staff, and community members to check back regularly for current opportunities and registration information.
Contact the Center for Survivors at general@msu.edu to learn more about upcoming programs and ways to get involved.

MSU Center for Survivors
Creativity as a Pathway to Healing
The Art of Healing is a signature Center for Survivors program that creates opportunities for survivors to explore healing through creative expression. Each spring, the Center hosts a community event where survivors can share artwork that reflects their personal healing journeys. Survivors may submit a wide variety of creative works, including visual art, photography, poetry, writing, music, dance, and other artistic expressions. Participation options include anonymous submissions, use of an alias, or sharing a name, allowing survivors to engage in ways that feel safest and most empowering for them.
The Art of Healing celebrates creativity, resilience, and the many ways healing can take shape. The event is open to survivors of all artistic backgrounds and affirms that healing is not about artistic experience it's about expression, connection, and growth.
Healing Through the Arts Year-Round
In addition to the annual showcase, the Center for Survivors offers workshops and group experiences that incorporate art, creativity, writing, movement, and other expressive practices as tools for healing. These opportunities provide supportive spaces for survivors to explore emotions, develop new coping skills, and connect with others through shared creative experiences.
